Well, no posts thus far for May and I aim to right/write that wrong. :)
Nothing too crazy in the last few weeks... Kev and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on May 4 at
Chingari. He was readying himself for curries, but Chingari specializes in tandoori dishes so he reluctantly joined me in getting #17. While I cannot for the life of me remember what it's called, it's the spiciest tandoori chicken I've ever had and it is
scrumptious. They also do a great spiced potato-stuffed naan (again, can't remember the Indian name) that is quite reminiscent of a
knish. I never really ate Indian food in the States but I cook it a bunch here. There are two British brands,
Patak's and
Sharwood's, that I mainly use as sauce shortcuts, and we quite enjoy the results.
We then celebrated Cinco de Mayo with friends and delish
tres leches. I also went to 3, count 'em 3, baby showers. Baby showers are so much easier in the States where registries actually exist and greeting cards don't cost $7-10!

My birthday was earlier this week and we celebrated this past weekend at Chili's with 26 adults and 9 kiddos. Yes, we are sitting near the margarita bar, and no, they don't serve margaritas (or any alcohol). The chips and salsa taste pretty much like they do back home - yum!
I've also been filling my time by volunteering with the spouse's club sponsored by Kevin's company. I joined the Welcome Wagon, welcoming new residents to Doha with a basket of goodies and all the advice my 9 months of Qatar wisdom can offer. I coordinate the contact list for our new compound (helpful for when a dog is lost or an impromptu party is announced). I also just volunteered to be librarian for the new compound's library. Our old compound's library was just a few bookcases of books and magazines, but our new compound is a combo of two major compounds so the library is primarily from the other compound consolidating. Apparently a librarian originally organized
that library so there's fiction, non-fiction, mystery, horror, sci-fi, health/fitness, biography, etc. etc. You would not believe how big the romance collection is. Clearly I had no idea what I was taking on, but alphabetization is soon in my future. Taking volunteers!
Not too much more ahead for this month, other than hot hot hot weather. Ciao!
