5 days ago we found out the exciting news that after 9 years we have been transferred to Doha, Qatar effective 8/1/10! We are still awaiting the official announcement and in the meantime have locked our Facebook walls for fear that co-workers may spread the news before we are able to tell our family and I can give notice at work. For a married couple without kids, this might be one of the few surprises left we can give our family so we (mainly me) want to make it special for them. Not exactly sure how we'll break the news yet, but hopefully it involves a flight or drive to GA/TN!
Kevin and I long ago agreed to a specific set of actions that was to take place when, if ever, he found out that we would be transferred. He would drop whatever he was doing and surprise me at work. Of course he finds out on a Monday and I'm in a late night meeting. As his Plan B, later that night I'm sitting on the couch checking work emails and get an email from Kevin at 10:48pm with the subject "Since you will be on store tours this week :)." and in it was a pic of the Tornado Tower in Doha. Thus began a celebratory night in which I felt bouts of joy and shouting and feeling socked in the stomach. Could have been the bad sushi that night, but I think it was the news.
So we are still waiting on the official EM announcement... waiting on the expat coordinator to contact us... hoping that both of us can keep a secret... living in TX and ready to high tail it outta here!
