Well, the wait is over!

I quit blogging about the upcoming move a few weeks ago as I debated whether or not to continue blogging, period. Well, I'm back again!

So the past few weeks went a little something like this...
- went to Knoxville for Kevin's mom's b-day weekend
- got the house on the market
- said goodbye to Kevin on 8/9 as he left for Doha ahead of me
- went to Atlanta solo to spend time with my fam
- watched movers pack up everything either by air or sea or into storage
- stressed for weeks about whether or not our "banned breed" would make it on a plane to Doha
- said goodbye to the USA on 8/26 as Mr. Pico and I left for Doha
- made it through customs in under an hour and wondered what all the dog stress was about

So here I am in Doha! Kevin and I live in an EM compound, which is really more like a small neighborhood with a gate. I think there are around 50 villas. There is a clubhouse, pool and gym as well. Our villa has 3 bedrooms (king, queen, 2 twins), and office, a living room and dining room, kitchen and utility room. We also have 4.5 bathrooms. Everything is furnished. We have a mix of contemporary furniture and what I've heard called "Saudi chic" which mainly refers to the wood items, like dressers/tables.

You can see just a smidge of West Bay (downtown) in the distance.

I am still adjusting to the change in time. I am sleeping in way too late which is causing me to be up more at night than I'd prefer.

I have only been outside the compound once so far during the daytime to get my resident's permit stuff started. I have been out at night twice now to go out to eat. The first was to one of Kevin's favorite restaurants, Turkey Central, which is awesome. The second was a late night souhour at the Four Seasons that we were invited to. Eventually I will find the courage to tackle driving on my own and get out.

The weather is hot, yes indeed. It actually seems worse at night when it is very humid and immediately fogs up my glasses whenever I step out into the night from air conditioning. I have walked to the gym during the day and it is not too bad. Very, very bright, though.

The water is also very, very hot here. I believe the water heater sits outside all day and literally cooks. Goodbye, days of cold showers. I will miss you.

TV is interesting. We have several movie channels and oddly enough some US channels like E! and Food Network. I have been trying to catch up on The Today Show when it broadcasts live here around 1-2pm. No Real Housewives, I am sad to report.

Enough for tonight! More soon!
