My parents got me hooked on Jersey Shore back in the States, and the mantra of the guidos is GTL, or...
Sadly enough, this is how I spend most days.
G: Our compound has a small gym. Sure, the morning cable is limited to re-runs of ER and Jeopardy, but on the plus side the a/c keeps it pretty cold and there are some old trashy magazines to read. I'm working out 4-5 days a week which is about 4-5 days a week more than I was in Houston.
T: We have a nice pool with a waterfall. When I first got here I was hitting the pool a few times a week... now I'm lucky to get there once a week. The pool is chilled, so even though it's generally in the 90s during the day the pool is around 85 or so.
L: Hey, what else am I doing? I'm queen of laundry here. Two interesting notes... 1) even if you select a cold wash cycle, the water is rarely cold and will be warm to hot anyways; 2) clothes take about 1 hr 30 min to 2 hrs to dry (about 2 cycles). I have no idea why, but it's apparently the norm.
This is kinda how my weeks are progressing so far. As mundane as my time-passing sounds, I'm still enjoying my time here and having fun. I'm job hunting on the 'net every day and hopefully something will come through. I am also saying "yes" pretty much anytime I'm invited along to do something, which is mainly lunch or shopping. There are a few stay-at-home moms and stay-at-home non-moms in our compound that I am spending most of my days with.
Good news is that I finally have an HIV test scheduled for Nov. 7 (step 2 in the resident permit process for those following along). Hopefully I can get a license by late Nov./Dec.

babe...why not hang your laundry to dry like we do here? forget the dryer all together? i bet it will dry in the same (or less, if it's still 90+-)
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me you don't have quite the dust/sand like we do here. Scroll back a post or so and check out Kevin's car after one day. Don't want that happening to my laundry!
