Shake it up, baby!

Well, we've finally made it home to Doha and have been here for almost 3 weeks now!  Adam is enjoying his own room and all his toys and goodies that were shipped over from the US.  He loves evening walks around the compound (even if it's in the 90s) and has yet to lose an appendage to Mr. Pico who is quite keen on him.  I'm psyched to get the comic book / superhero room together, but unfortunately the compound's concrete drill is currently broken.  Hopefully by the weekend we'll have everything hung on the walls for a photo.

Unfortunately, his awesome room will be short lived!

We spend the next two weeks here in Doha, then two weeks in England, Ireland and Scotland (work training, Dublin Marathon and Eid vacation), then two more weeks in Doha before we move back to the US.  That's right, if you haven't heard by now, we're being repatriated back to Houston!  The timing feels a bit frantic to me, even though we have a bit of notice by many standards.  My main concern is that most of the baby stuff (including the baby!) just got here, and now we're sticking it in a sea shipment for 2-3 months.  We do get an air shipment that will follow us home by about 2 weeks so we'll stick the baby essentials in there.  We will be looking for a new home again in The Woodlands, a community we loved living in for 6 years even though we hated the commute.  Fortunately Kevin's new job is much closer to The Woodlands and his company is relocating their major Houston office just south of The Woodlands by 2014 so I'm much looking forward to "found time."  We are also much more active now than when we lived in TX last and I look forward to hitting the great shaded trails again.

There are many, many things I am looking forward to about living in the US again, but we are so sad to be leaving Doha.  If it were up to us we would stay here as long as possible!  One of the best things about the job I previously held here was that I felt I was a great advocate for Americans living abroad, particularly in the Middle East.  We've had a tremendously great experience these last 2 years in Doha.  We've also made so many great friends and we will have to do our best to replicate this community of support back in TX.

Day by day as we settle into more of a routine I am finding myself with a bit more time and will do my best to try to keep up the blog!
